2014 Book Resource Room

The APPE Book Resource Room was the center of activity at the Twenty-third Annual International Conference of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics in Jacksonville, Florida!

The spacious Conference Center A of the Hyatt Jacksonville Riverfront Hotel held the Book Resource Room as well as APPE conference registration.

The room was humming with activity throughout the conference including a Poster Session that was held in the Book Resource Room for the first time.

Conference attendees could be found perusing the poster submissions, thumbing through books and journals, discussing sessions at the conversation tables, and enjoying the free beverages and snacks provided by the Association.  It was a wonderful networking hub for attendees and one could always find discussions about potential sessions for next year's International Annual Conference to be held in Costa Mesa, California.

The Twenty-third International Annual Conference Opening Reception and Book Resource Room Open House was held in the Book Resource Room on the Thursday evening, February 27, 2014. Sponsored by The APPE Executive Board, the reception was touted as one of the best ever!  Attendees enjoyed sumptuous crab cakes, crudites, carving stations and more.  It was a lovely opportunity for attendees to connect and check out the latest titles in ethics on display from participating publishing houses.

The Poster Session held in the Book Resource Room for the first time was well attended on Saturday morning of the Conference.  There were fourteen Poster Submissions that were displayed in the Book Resource Room throughout the conference and conference attendees were able to study each poster in advance of the session and read provided materials from the presenters.  At the session, each presenter was given time to briefly present their poster subject.  After the oral presentations, attendees were able to continue the discussions individually with presenters.  The session was so successful that APPE will continue to offer this submission category in the future.

The Authors Reception continues to be a rousing success!  Authors and attendees meet, discuss, sign books and enjoy the stimulating environment.  APPE was proud to host 22 Authors and showcase 17 new works in the field of Ethics.  Please, see the 2014 Authors on the Program page for additional information on the books and their authors.

Attendees were able to have more interaction with individual authors during the Author Meets the Critics and Lunch with and Authors sessions offered throughout the APPE Annual Conference schedule.

If you have a new publication in ethics, please consider sharing it at the Twenty-fourth International Annual Conference in Costa Mesa, California. Please follow the 2015 Submission Instructions to be considered for the program or if you would like to advertise or promote your publication in the Book Resource Room, please follow the instructions for Exhibitors and Publishers.

On Friday evening, March 1, 2014, the Book Resource Room was pleased to award four $50 gift cards for books from the Cambridge Scholars Publishing cataloge sponsored by Cambridge Scholars Publishing as door prizes for those in attendance at the Annual Awards Ceremony and Banquet.
