21st INTERNATIONAL VINCENTIAN

BUSINESS ETHICS CONFERENCE (IVBEC), DUBLIN October 29 - November 1   2014

IVBEC 2014 will take place at All Hallows College, Dublin 9, Ireland.

The conference will address topics in all areas of business and professional ethics. A combination of formats will be used to address critical ethical issues.

Theme:                "The Impact of Business Ethics on Public Life"

This year we particularly encourage panels, presentations, or case studies that focus on global issues related to the following questions:

Is there a growing deficit in ethical leadership?
Do we, our leaders and corporations, take responsibility for social and political institutions that truly reflect society?
What lessons can we learn from the economic, political and social crises of our times?
Are business ethics, public virtue and social mores intrinsically linked?
What are the consequences of free enterprise and globalization for social justice?

Keynote Addresses and Featured Speakers:

Today’s leaders will address current ethical challenges in management decision-making.

Panel Sessions:

We invite you to form a panel of scholars and business people around a timely, cutting edge problem concerning ethical decision making in business and submit the proposal.

Concurrent Sessions:

Innovative research and scholarship on all areas of business and professional ethics are presented through formal, academic papers.

Poster Sessions:

And for the first time, to encourage participation from younger researchers, there will be a poster session with a focus on Social Justice.

Media Gallery:

We offer an opportunity for practitioners to profile and promote best practice or innovation to showcase a social enterprise, poverty alleviation, corporate responsibility or social justice initiative.

Time and Place:

The conference will begin at 7 pm on Wednesday October 29 and will end at noon on November 1. The Conference will be held at All Hallows College, Drumcondra, Dublin 9 Ireland, a venue close (2 km) to downtown Dublin and 15 minutes from Dublin Airport.

Call for Papers:

We are looking for business professionals, academics, and young scholars who have an interest in and commitment to the study and discussion of business and professional ethics. Final proposals will be selected through an independent referee process.

We require a one-page proposal, including an abstract (500 words maximum).  Please submit it as an electronic attachment in an email to IVBEC2014@gmail.com.  Please also add a Presenter(s) Bio (200 words).  Formal papers may be submitted (with an accompanying abstract) as well, but please note that papers and panel presentations should plan not to exceed 20 minutes each so that there will be time for Q & A.

We are actively seeking proposals which:

  • Address important issues in the field of business and professional ethics.
  • Reflect timely, cutting edge insight
  • Represent collaboration between academic and business professionals (including practical case studies).
  • Involve panels representing interdisciplinary approaches or applications.

Continuing our custom, an award is presented for the best paper, and a special award will be presented to the best young scholar’s paper.
