2017 Audiovisual Needs Form

Submission Categories

Formal or Individual Presentation: This category is for individual presentations. It may be a finished paper or a work in progress. Individual program sessions are generally 1 hour in length and presenters are encouraged to organize their remarks for a 20-25 minute presentation so as to allow time for questions and discussion with attendees. Some sessions with like or complementary subject matter may be combined.  In this case, presenters are asked to organize their remarks for a 10-15 minute presentation and encourage questions and discussion with attendees for the remainder of their time.

Normally, previously published papers are not accepted.

Case Studies, Pedegogical Demonstrations, Creative Arts Presentations: These three categories most often focus on innovative teaching techniques or topics of particular interest in ethics education. Sessions are 1 hour in length and presenters are encouraged to organize their remarks or production for a 20-25 minute presentation so as to allow time for questions and discussion with attendees. Some sessions with like or complementary subject matter may be combined.

Panel Discussions: This category is for sessions with multiple presenters and are normally 1.5 hours in length. Panel organizers are encouraged to keep the formal remarks of panelists brief, providing adequate time for questions and discussion with the attendees either during or at the conclusion of the panel presentations.

The panel organizer must submit a 500 word abstract describing the overall topic for the panel. Each panelist must also provide a summary paragraph (abstract) for describing their remarks. The abstracts should be sufficiently detailed so that a reviewer will be able to assess the merits of the proposal.

If you cannot secure each panelists abstract by the deadline, please notify the APPE offices for an extension.

Poster Presentations: This is a display category that enables authors an opportunity to show current work in progress or finished results as a poster or display using a mix of graphics and text. Posters will be displayed throughout the conference and a special Poster Presentation Event will be scheduled to give authors an opportunity to discuss your work and answer questions with attendees.

All submissions (except for Book Submissions) must also include a 400 (minimum) to 500 (maximum) word abstract (not including keywords or bibliography) for peer review.

All submissions must also include a summary paragraph (abstract), which will be included in the Abstracts of the Annual Meeting publication.

Author Meets the Critics: This category gives authors an opportunity to discuss their recently published book. Normally, two colleagues are asked to give brief prepared remarks with their assessment as a prelude for further discussion with the author and session attendees.

Authors must include a summary paragraph (abstract) that will be printed in the Abstracts of the Annual Meeting publication and a copy of the book must be mailed to the APPE office for review.

Lunch with an Author: Authors may propose a Lunch with an Author session, either in conjunction with an Author Meets the Critics session or independently. This is an informal opportunity for authors to discuss their recently published work around a lunch table with attendees.

Authors must include a summary paragraph (abstract) that will be printed in the Abstracts of the Annual Meeting publication and a copy of the book must be mailed to the APPE office for review.

Authors are encouraged to participate in both events listed above and are invited to participate in the Authors Reception on Friday evening of the Annual Conference.
